Yes, as you guess, it's 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' by Sir Conan Doyle. Through over a century, Holmes who was made by him still is considered to be the greatest, the most excellent detective ever in history alive in people's mind, and he is considered to be the most successful detective story writer in making up such a character as well. It's classical.

  Actually I read about this story in a book, but I'd like to record my report here. The first thing I felt during the book was that too much description about the moor I can't get well, which seriously reduce the fun of reading a detective story. Apart from this one flaw (of myself of course) , the story didn't seem to appeal to me enough. I was not quite convinced by Doyle's logic in this murder. The hound seemed a highly unefficient tool for a murder but a great one to piling up the mystery of a story. Anyway , the reading experience was generally interesting. And I thought maybe it took me too many days (almost 7) to finish the book. Next time I'll try to read it at one go. I bet it would be much more fasinating.
