Jane Eyre was an orphan girl. She was born into a poor parson's family. My parents died soon after.
Young Jane Eyre was placed in foster care with her uncle and aunt. After the death of her uncle, Mr. Reed, Jane Eyre lived a life of discrimination and abuse for ten years. From then on, her confrontation with her aunt, who regarded her as an eyesore and separated her from her children, became more open and determined, and Jane was sent to Loward Orphanage.
The orphanage rules are strict, life is hard, the director is a cold hypocrite. Jane Eyre continued to suffer mental and physical abuse in the orphanage. Due to the poor living conditions, children in the orphanage often died of illness, her best friend Helen died of tuberculosis. Helen's death also led to great improvements in the orphanage. Jane was educated in the new environment for six years and taught in the school for two years. Tired of life in an orphanage because of Miss Temple's departure, Jane Eyre advertised for a career as a governess. She was employed by the housekeeper of Thornfield Hall. The male master of the manor Rochester often travels, her student is a less than 10 years old girl Adele Valang, Rochester is her protector.
One evening, out for a walk, Jane met her master, who had just returned from abroad, for the first time. Later she found that her master was a melancholy and moody man, and his manner to her was sometimes good and bad. The house was dark and empty, and sometimes a strange, spooky laugh was heard. One day, Jane was awakened by this laughter in her sleep. She found that Rochester's room was on fire. Jane woke him up and helped him put out the fire.
Rochester often gave family dinners when he returned. After courting a beautiful lady named Ingram at a family dinner, Jane Eyre was called into the drawing-room, but was given a cold reception by Blanche and her daughter. She suffered humiliation and left the drawing-room. By this time she had fallen in love with Rochester. In fact, Rochester has also fallen in love with Jane Eyre, he just wanted to test Jane Eyre's love for himself. When he asked Jane Eyre to marry him, she said yes.
On the eve of her wedding, Jane saw in the twilight a hateful woman putting on her wedding dress in front of a mirror. The next day, while the wedding was quietly taking place in the church, someone suddenly testified that Mr. Rochester had been married fifteen years ago. His wife turned out to be the mad woman who was locked up in the secret room on the third floor. The law gets in the way of their love, causing them both to fall into deep pain. One miserable night, Jane Eyre left Rochester. In search of a new way of life on the way, Jane Eyre wind and sleep, beg along the way, through hardships, finally in the field House is taken in by the priest St. John, and in a local elementary school teaching. Soon, Jane Eyre learned that her uncle had died and left her a legacy. She also found out that St. John was her cousin. Jane Eyre decided to divide the property equally. St. John was a fanatic and intended to go to India as a missionary. He asked Jane Eyre to marry him and go to India with him, but only on the grounds that she was fit to be a missionary's wife. Jane rejected him and decided to look at Rochester again. She returns to Thornfield Hall, which is in ruins. The mad woman falls to her death after setting fire to it, and Rochester is injured and maimed. Jane Eyre found him and was so shocked that she eventually married him and got the happy life she wanted.
