Pip’s reaction towards the “great expectations” is one of mixed emotions. He is excited and grateful for the opportunity, as it represents a chance to improve his station in life and to be closer to the beautiful Estella, Miss Havisham’s adopted daughter. However, he also feels guilty and torn about leaving his home and his foster father, Joe Gargery, who has been a loyal and kind guardian to him. When Pip leaves the home and Joe, he feels a sense of loss and sadness. He is aware that his decision to pursue the life of a gentleman will forever change his relationship with Joe and the simple life they shared. Pip’s departure is a bittersweet moment, as it marks the end of one chapter in his life and the beginning of another, filled with both opportunity and uncertainty.
