  He had not caught any fish for 84 days. On the 85th day, he took a canoe to the deep sea to fish alone. Finally, he caught a marlin longer than the canoe. The fish dragged the boat for two days and nights, struggling to escape and jumping to capsize the boat. The old man fought with hunger and pain and finally subdued the powerful opponent. On his way back, he encountered several sharks and fought them with harpoons, knives and oars. Exhausted, he finally returned home, only to come back with a pair of giant marlin skeletons.
