To be honest, after reading the great Gatsby for the first time , I don't know what is so great about him. The book revolves around the love story between Gatsby and daisy. But this is not a good love story, Gatsby has paid a lot for Daisy, just to find Daisy and hold a party in his home every week which is extremely prosperous this practice surprised us. Then Gatsby wanted Daisy to leave her family and run away with him. But he overestimated  Daisy's love for him.It is sad. Even though he gave his life for Daisy, Daisy finally chose an easy and rich life. I ever thought gatsby was stupid ,becase he gave his life for a woman who didn't love him that much. 

            But later I realized that the greatness of gatsby lies in that when others would restrain their hearts for the sake of reality, for the sake of material, for a more comfortable life, only gatsby was very determined to be himself. This explains the reason why Gatsby is great.
