《红字》 书评二
郭烨静
In the society at that time, men were dominant and central, while women were subordinate, oppressed and excluded. In such an environment, Hester not only does not submit to the traditional concept of male superiority and female inferiority, but also expresses her tit-for-tat with society through social rejection. In her extremely painful life, Hester bravely withstood people's contempt and indifference. She maintained a simple life for her mother and daughter with her meager income, and moved the people around her with her tenacious will to live and kind nature. She defended her rights as a woman in her own way. From an insulted and damaged woman, she gradually developed into a free thinker and even a woman activist who never gave up pursuing happiness. Hester is a defender of women's power, a pursuer of romantic love and a protestor of her own destiny.
