Before reading this book, I didn't know who Mr. Gu is, but I admired him from the bottom of my heart after knowing of him. He is a person who has a good command of Chinese and western knowledge,and is proficient in nine languages and has obtained 13 doctoral degrees.He used this book to try to explain the spirit of Chinese civilization and reveal its value in order to change westerners' prejudice against China.He wrote that the Chinese spirit is something essentially unique in spirit, temperament, and emotion, which distinguishes the Chinese from all others, especially modern Europeans and Americans.To understand the real Chinese people and Chinese civilization, you must have three characteristics: broad, profound, simple.But Mr Gu supported China's concubinage culture and had the idea that the point of a wife is to serve her husband.I don't agree with that.
