E12潘佳怡  objectively speaking，with  gu’s knowledge as a scholar，and his encouraging words，this book should have unique characteristic，and bring out the literary accomplishment of gu.but after reading and learning about the Chinese history，in my opinion， It can even be said that this kind of romantic wishful thinking can be seen everywhere.
       in his opinion，Chinese people have a natural“gentle”attribute，that is to say，gentle.this is the basic Chinese spirit of people.to be specific，the real Chinese spirit is a child with mature reason who lives a spiritual life,that is a life of affection or friendly humanity.and to be said“it is deep broad gentle”.
     Chinese are subject to a loyal moral principles，the guidelines from confusion to comb about the principle of honor and responsibility，which is saying that woman is loyal to her husband，son is loyal to patents，man is loyal to the sovereign.we cherish our honor，fulfill our responsibilities，thus contribute to a good society，not just a good individual.
      subsequently gu lays out the conception of religion. human need religion，as generally need art and science，which stems from the fear of the mysterious world.in gu’s opinion Chinese don’t feel the need of religion like European because Confucian education can let a person to admit the existence of a divine order ，and can through the loyal to the monarch ，the ceremony by families ，conveyed to ordinary people.
      in this book ，gu also bring about the unique commentary about Chinese man and woman.
        in china the aim of a woman is to do her best on her position of a daughter， a  wife，a mother，trying out the duty of“三从四德”.somebody may conclude that Chinese marriage is a kind of citizen marriage，not between the man and the woman ，but a contract between the woman and the country.
     in this unjust contract ，woman not only need to carry out  the duty on her husband ，but also the duty on the society.on the other hand，Chinese man need the feeling of honor，he is meant to serve for  the country for a life time.
      at the end ，gu talks about the language of China，which is said to be a difficult language，because Chinese is a tool to use simple words to express deep feeling.
       as the old saying goes “better believe all than none”we should reserve a personal commentary on it.
