People’s spirit, nation’s fortune

Today, we Chinese people are living a life amid tremendous contradiction. The Chinese style escalates into a full-scale criticism referring to our unreasonable and absurd actions. That's one of the reason why we are supposed to revert to our traditional Chinese culture and spirits, just like what Gu had written.

 Gu Hongming, or Tomson, is a master of language and Chinese scholarship, called   "the most distinguished Chinese" by Mahatma Gandhi. We are informed of a lot by   the upper section of this splendid book.

   The first thing that struck me  was the law of love and justice. The Religion of good  citizenship teaches us to love our parents and to be true and loyal. If we all had done  so, corruption and abandon would not have so common. The second element to impress me was the writer's explanation of Chinese spirit. However, it is not the character or characteristics of Chinese people, but what distinguishes them from all   other people, the type of humanity, the English word "gentle". If you look no more   beautiful, you are a vulgar, you are stupid, will you be hideous, aggressive or absurd? The answer is–a true Chinese people won't. The power of sympathy makes you gentle. 

As is known to all, there are qualitative differences in Chinese language and other    languages. The writer said we remember things with the heart and not with head; we live a life of the heart and this language is also a language of the heart. Be like little children, as a result of which you will be able to learn Chinese.

When it comes to Sinologist, who owns human and practical interest is a great one. The most  useful and meaningful part for me that relate to present is Chinese scholarship. Many scholars did studies of China, such as Chinese philosophy, Chinese Religion,  Chinese history and Chinese language. Unfortunately,they all failed in some aspects. It's too deep and profound for foreigners to understand us absolutely and completely. At this stage, the focus of Chinese studies is contemporary Chinese politics, economy and culture, which have changed a lot with the development of the times.

Despite the complex situation we are facing, the essential thing we need to grasp is our own spirit, which decides the nation' s prosperity or poverty, bloom or wilt. China has been flourishing for thousands of years in history, the Chinese spirits is a must. The 24 core socialist values is put forward to guide our actions, always being high-profile by the world.  Meanwhile,this book allow me to obtain a deeper understanding and probably a totally new view of us Chinese.

From my perspective, I hope more instructive activities to be held as a college student, for it not only enrich our school life, but also raise our awareness of protecting and improving our Chinese culture ,as well as capture Chinese spirits.It is desired that every single individual might join in this campaign containing inner  requirement and outer representation, might shoulder their responsibility and contribute to our country.
