It’s a pity that I can’t understand this book absolutely. I think I should learn more about the Chinese civilization so that I can follow Gu .In spite of Hongming’s expression is somewhat repetitive, he has conveyed new ideas to readers through words . Reading his book, I naturally associate it with A Brief History of Mankind. He said to foreigners that you have so many policemen, social order is still very poor, you have God, there are still so many wars between countries. Look at China again. In the past two thousand and five hundred years, there have been no police officers in China who have fought wars, that is, local wars. You know why, because you don't have a real civilization, your police and God don't teach you how to be citizens. Looking at China, we have Confucius, who plays the role of religion and tells us to be loyal and filial. Although we do not have churches, in fact, the traditional family is our church. Confucianism seeps into the hearts of most Chinese people in this way to make them truly civilized. Gu Hongming once said a remark about the relationship between men and women that “Men are teapots, women are teacups. A teapot must have several teacups, but not one teacup with several teapots.” We can learn something about his ideology .In this book he said that, As for women, the traditional Chinese women are of course the best, three obedience to the four virtues, complete sacrifice of their own family. And you say that it's inhumane for a man to have concubines, not at all, because Chinese women are so good, so the fact that a man marries concubines has not hurt them at all, and it's not humane to talk about it. And it's a technical job to marry concubines. Think about it. There are so many women in a big family who never quarrel. Is that easy? Can you do it? Only Chinese men can do it. If they can, of course, they have the right to marry concubines. And what kind of humanity is it that men here often find women to satisfy their animal desires and throw away others? The truly humane Chinese man, who takes a fancy to others, marries them home and provides them with delicious food and drink. Even if he doesn't love her anymore, he will certainly not abandon her.
 But we must see Mr. Gu's contribution to the spread of Chinese culture. We can feel the sense of national pride and his words. He used Chinese Confucianism and fluent Western language to solve the negative impact of the Western Industrial Revolution, and based on this, he totally brutalized Western culture. In this interesting book, you can see an almost religious beauty for people to forget hunger and anger, such as relief and detachment like sunshine.
In today's world of cultural integration, we may need more people like Gu Hongming. Let more people understand the excellent Chinese culture, rather than accept the Western cultural viewpoint wholly.
