Since the emergence of Confucianism for more than 2,000 years, ancient Chinese society has relied on its power to maintain people's moral concepts and maintain social stability. Compared with the serious consequences brought about by western countries' past use of religion and police to maintain order, Confucianism has shown its unique advantages. Therefore, Mr. Gu told the European countries today that they will find Confucianism in China to change their chaotic social order.  At the same time, Mr. Gu also pointed out that if European countries continue to invade China, this moral force will disappear.  Furthermore, Mr. Gu pointed out that this power comes from the love of husband and wife, the love of parents and loyalty to the monarch. Mr. Gu defined Confucianism as non-religious by European standards, while China used this non-religious power to stabilize the society for more than 2,000 years. In addition, Mr. Gu compared this morality with the narrow moral power of scholars such as Aristotle, which highlights the strength and completeness of Confucianism.  Although the spirit of the Chinese people may not be perfect, I can still feel Mr. Gu Hongming's deep concern for China's fate from his words.

I used to think that Mr. Gu Hongming was a westerner who denied Chinese civilization but highly praised European civilization. However, in this book, I saw a scholar who really cared about the fate of China.  As a Chinese, Mr. Gu praised Confucianism for its contribution to the maintenance of Chinese moral values, many fine qualities such as Chinese wit and justice, loyalty of Chinese women, praise of Yang Sinology and Chinese language, etc., while criticizing the narrow judgment of western scholars on China.  In the face of China now invaded by many European countries, Mr. Gu called for peace, like those western countries which are in the process of militarism, by using Confucianism to restore their chaotic social order to normal and to preserve China.  I understand his depth, his concern for China, and even more clearly, his immense pride in the spirit of the Chinese people.

After reading the book on the spirit of the Chinese people, I learned a great wealth of Chinese civilization. I marveled at the great power of Confucianism. it established a moral system and unified all Chinese concepts with this moral system. Mr Gu showed us the embodiment of Confucianism.  The Chinese people's justice and resourcefulness and loyalty to the monarch all show the greatness of this power. however, the power that could have saved the European countries in chaotic order is being destroyed by their militarism. it is enough to think of Mr. Gu's sorrow. through this book, I can see the great spirit of the Chinese people. I think this spirit may also be the spirit embodied by Mr. Gu. Mr. Gu is a patriot. In the book, he reveals the spiritual life of the Chinese people from the perspective of cultural and ideological history, and publicizes the value of Chinese traditional culture. He made his own national salvation action in his own way.Add a new force for China.
