At first I did not understand why the Chinese spiritshould be written in English by Mr. Gu Hongming. Butafter reading the book, I learned, Mr. Gu Hongmingis to change the prejudice of foreigners againstChinese,safeguard the dignity of the Chinesepeople .Westerners have spread a saying: to
China can not see the three halls, can not see GuHongming. To understand the real Chineseand Chinese civilization, that person must be deep,broad and simple.The first spirit of the Chinese
people is the gentle.The second spirit of the Chinesepeople is a strong sense of compassion .If theylearn from Chinese civilization, the Americans willbecome deep; the British will become broad; the
Germans will become simple; the French will get all,and more refined than now elegant. Almost all theforeign students fell in love with China after theycame to China. Maybe China's environment or otherconditions are not as good as their hometown. Butthey still want to stay in China. It is the gentlemanlyspirit and c ompassion of the Chinese that movethem. True Chinese may be rough, but not
vulgar; or ugly, but not hideous; or crude, but notpresumptuous; or dull, but not foolish; or smooth.But not evil. Although Mr. Gu Hongming
encourages the theory of wife and concubines in thebook. But it was also the trend of the times. It's notlike monogamy today.But the book still says that thehusband protects his wife. The book take thepoem as an example, displays the Chinese languagethe form to be simple, the semantics is rich, themood is full .Chinese is a living language. Chineseis indeed difficult to learn to master, with simplesentences to express profound feelings. However,as the Greek proverb says, good things are alwayshard. The Chinese people live a spiritual life, so thedevelopment of the Chinese people is not so muchhindered, as it is a never- aging nation, a nation withthe secret of eternal youth. This nation, which lives aspiritual life like a child, is certainly not interested inabstract, rigid science and technology. This is howfar-reaching and long-term thinkers of mankind havecome. Fortunately, it seems that at any differenthistorical period in China, there will always be somepeople stubbornly holding their fists high, becausethey believe that those who did not understand andaccept the shining ideas of the people at that timewill eventually be taken seriously by people in somefuture era. The spirit of the Chinese people, Mr. GuHongming is the real spirit of the Chinese peoplethe quality and charm of the soul of the pious calland perfect interpretation .In today's world,China is not a developed country, she is still on theroad to power for a long period of unknown road toexplore, and this is the need for us to complete themission. We must rely on the spirit of our Chinesepeople, our ancestors rely on the precious legacyof spiritual wealth, for our future to create the mostfavorable conditions. As Iwrite this comment, I amkeenly aware that the Chinese language is more
beautiful than English. After all, my vocabulary is tooshallow to express my real thoughts. But whether Mr.Gu Hongming quoting a Chinese sage, or to quotea foreign writer. Everything was just right. It wassmooth.
