This winter vacation , I seize a precious opportunity to read one of the most classic books which called “ TheSpirit of the Chinese people”. To be honest ,I am ashamed of having not heard the name of the master before ,and I did not have a good knowledge of his background and his experience .However , I will try my best to expand my knowledge and find out the answers to questions. What is the spirit of Chinese people? What does the author intend to tell us ? What are the differences between the Chinese people and the foreigners ? I will bring all these questions into my learning.

After reading the whole book ,I am quite sure that the central sentence of the book is ‘the Chinese character and the Chinese civilization of the three big characteristics , is the deep, the profound ,and simple ,in addition to sensitive’ ,from my point of view ,the four words are extremely accurate , if the foreigners want to have a good knowledges of the Chinese civilizations ,he must be the one who owns all of these . we can easily know the reasons why did the master compared the Chinese to the others (the Americans, the Germans, the French and so on ),because these people tried to tell the world ,they know the Chinese people ,but what they see is just the tip of the iceberg. None of they own all these four wonderful good qualities. Even the French , who own the three – deep, profound ,and the simple, they still ac of being sensitive. As the defender of the oriental culture ,whenhe read the passages about the misunderstandings to the culture ,he could not be calm down ,so he write this to fight back , to tell the truth .he had made a firm and desperate struggle . 

Mr. Gu had his original vision, he persuade the westerners never try to change the Chinese culture ,otherwise it will be the loss to the world, or even become a disaster. It can even save  the western world which lost in troubles. He told us that if we want to know its values ,you should find the essence , it is not the magnificent architectures, the roads that lead in all directions , the instrument ,it is the people . In other words ,what kind of men and women did this civilization produce. It reveals the soul of the civilization. 

 By reminding the Confusion many times ,the master wanted to show us the clash of the mind and heart , that is the clash between the philosophy and belief .Although Mr. Gu admitted that be different from the European religious ,he preferred to acknowledge it is just the marginal occasions . But he admired what Confusion convey to the people ,the right national philosophy, he also pointed out that Confusion cannot be called a religion, it is the way to be a man .

 What impressed me most is the sentence ,”we are a nation that lives our lives as children “,we always keep the pure heart ,our nation is perpetual ,we will always look forwards to the wonderful and colorful things , we do not care about the death ,even if we are afraid of this ,we are more concerned about the continuation of life and the historical inheritance. We own the wisdom from our ancients ,we have the hope ,the diligent and the courage.

 What I said also the tip of the iceberg , I cannot express all my feelings by words, I also need to admit that I should still learn this book by heart , I still have some worries ,I am still confused about some sentences, I promise I will read it once and once again. As a English major ,I will always remember what he wanted to tell us .

 But there is no doubt that Mr. Gu, who love his nation and civilization from his bottom to his heart , it is a deep love , he used his words and his pure heart to moved us to keep on, to move on and protect the dignity of the Chinese people , eliminate some of the foreigners’ prejudice . We once neglected his inner anguish, ignore his positive thinking about oriental culture , but now ,no on can emit what he had done to this nation , he helped us to find our confidence ,the national confidence.
