The soul of civilization is the type of human beings it produces.The soul of man and woman is the language they speak.
In this book，Mr.Gu clarifies some Sinologue have distorted intellect.There is in this world a force more terrible even than the terrific physical forces in Nature and that is the passions in the heart of man.
Nowadays,mankind discovers a force which is more effective to order human beings and this force is called moral force.Mr.Gu also stands into another side to think this problem.Take some Englishman and Britishman into consideration,the law of love and justice,in the other word moral force have great power.As a matter of fact,what people of Europe afraid most is not the accident of War,but the constant necessity to arm themselves.
Say no to force,let everyone convince them that right and justice is a power.In order to do this,children should learn that Nature of man is good at the beginning of their study.
In this present war,what the people of Europe really want,is to get rid of soldier.Some people lose the fear of god and the fear of the law,that’s why they were controlled by civil.
What the editor wants to call the attention of the people of Europe and America to,just the Religion of good citizenship.He warn these people not trying to destroy the real China man,the Chinese type of humanity.
The real China man is a person with the head of a grown-up man and the heart of a child.The Chinese spirit,therefore is a spirit of perpetual youth,the spirit of national immortality.This true human intelligence is the combination of sympathy and intelligence.
In a passage writer selects two articles from Dr.Giles ’ latest publication to show that if hitherto writings of foreign scholars on the subjects of Chinese learning and Chinese literature have been without human or practical interest,the fault is not in Chinese learning and Chinese literature.
As the saying goes“Beautiful things are difficult.People around the world all think highly of the spirit of China man,however,the fact is that being a brilliant person is difficult,both to Chinese and foreigners.Here comes the question,what can we do to keep the spirit?
From my point of view,at first,we ought to be self-confidence,believe we have the ability to be good.What’s more, we must have a knowledge of traditional Chinese virtues,for example,respect the aged and take good care of children,be ready to help others and so on.Besides,it is our responsibility to study well and make progress every day,just “never too old to learn”Last but not least,the spirit is not personal,so we can call to action tells others the importance of it,that’s what the nation want us to do.
People all over the world think highly of the spirit of China man.I am so proud to be a Chinese,I will try my best to undertake the responsibility to revitalize the Chinese nation.
