The Spirit of the Chinese Individuals
Why should we ingest Chinese?
It is universally acknowledged, Chinese are about Chinese and Chinese characters. It has undergone over 3,000 years of practice and changes in language and culture. It is the solely two-dimensional character in the world that can express sounds, meanings and shapes. In the spirit of the Chinese, author Gu hongming describes his unique cognition and understanding of Chinese.
The author hold the view that "the most excellent language in the history of Chinese" "will surely prevail over English", and demonstrates from the perspectives of thinking speed, pronunciation and composition of meaning, which is convincing and sincere. But I ask myself, why should we learn Chinese at all, because it is the greatest and best language in the world, or as it is profound and the first to learn ?For me, I have three reasons : Chinese, is a Chinese symbol. It represents your belonging, your identity, more like a sign. This is not just for individuals, but for entire nations. Chinese is the root of a nation's culture and spirit. Setting a common example, if a child grew up with parents from their homes, came to a strange environment ,but his parents didn't teach him about his national culture in time, such as dialect, history, customs, periods of time, he also can say that there is his hometown, he is the ownership of the land, but over time, the generations in the past, when his children and grandchildren come back ,additionally the blood, they have lost all what can sign their hometown identity, may say that they have a kind of new culture, a new kind of heritage, a new identity, But there is no denying that they are no longer the same place they came from. This is the loss of the original attribution, a loss of cultural symbols. Chinese, it is not like a passport, an identity card, such as a specific object, to prove your origin, your identity, it is more like an invisible, such as the Chinese heart in something general in the spirit, others may not know, but only you appreciate the depth of the Chinese in your heart, only you understand their own attribution. I study Chinese because I still want to be a real Chinese.
The Chinese language is also a concrete manifestation of the Chinese cultural spirit. It records the Chinese writing system, carrying the culture of up and down five thousand years, and in the process of continuous development, leaving a large number of poems, couplets and other cultures, but also formed a unique Chinese calligraphy art. Imagine how you can truly experience and learn Chinese traditional culture without learning Chinese and Chinese characters. Some people may ask, even the ancient writings in classical style can use the vernacular translation, English or translated into another language learning communication, is so in theory, but really compare the students should know that even if you how subtle translation, in the original language with oneself understand cultural content must still have certain differences. This is like an inheritance that needs to be verified. In order to get the real inheritance, there must be a corresponding key to pass the test. It's the same with Chinese culture. You have to learn Chinese to really get a glimpse of its richness.
This is why after reading gu's views on Chinese in this book, we need to give ourselves a reason to move forward and a belief to support the answer to our questions and questions
"The spirit of the Chinese" reflects the author's thinking. Overall, it is great. From the current perspective, it is not objective and comprehensive enough, there are still many shortcomings and omissions, or even wrong. For example, in the maintenance of the monarchy ,concubinage and other decadent things. Koo tried his best to justify himself, but his statement was far-fetched, and he had preconceived prejudice against western civilization. However, it is undeniable that this book plays an important role in spreading Chinese ideology and culture and promoting China to the world. It opens a window for the west to understand China's eastern cultures. "We cannot excoriate the ancients! This is how we should treat history. Considering the external environment at that time, we can find gu's ardent Chinese heart and self-respect Chinese emotions. During the conflict between Chinese and western civilizations, when almost all Chinese advanced elements advocated the total negation of Chinese traditional culture and the absorption of western civilization without reservation, Gu hongming bravely stood up to defend Chinese traditional culture. The spirit of him deserves our sincere respect.
After reading this book, I received many inspirations. As a new generation of Chinese teenagers, the task of building a beautiful motherland falls on our shoulders. We will do our best to fulfill our duties, concentrating on our studies, studying hard, making progress every day, and doing our best to make our country greater and stronger. These are what I have learnt from this book.
