He is famous for clever plotting and realistic art in displaying his subject. Misti, Moiron, My Landlady, My Uncle Sosthenes are included in these works. In these books, Maupassant creates colorful woman figures. These novels are of ingenious structure, typical plots. Maupassant criticized dissolute behavior of bourgeoisie in My Landlady.

This book contains four short stories of him. In Misti, the protagonist is a bright and charming woman. The author tells a story between "me" and "her" by the eyewitness of a cat named "Misti". In Moiron, Moiron is a man of high reputation. However, once he breaks the law and he aviods to be sentenced to death using his high reputation. Years later, he confesses his crime. In My Landlady, it tells a story that a young man wants to bring his girlfriend to his boarding house, but, the landlady protests by drives his girlfriend out. In My Uncle Sosthenes, the nephew plans a mischief. But to his big surprise, contradictions between Uncle Sosthenes and his enemy has been solved due to his mischief. Eventually, Uncle Sosthenes gives away his heritage to his enemy.

Guy de Maupassant ( 5 August 1850 – 6 July 1893) was a popular French writer, considered one of the fathers of the modern short story and one of the form's finest exponents. Maupassant was a protégé of Flaubert and his stories are characterized by economy of style and efficient, effortless dénouements. Many are set during the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s, describing the futility of war and the innocent civilians who, caught up in events beyond their control, are permanently changed by their experiences. He wrote some 300 short stories, six novels, three travel books, and one volume of verse. His first published story, "Boule de Suif" ("Ball of Fat", 1880), is often considered his masterpiece.
