中式英语之鉴有感
Sarah
Joan Pinkham, the author of Translator's Guide to Chinglish, takes English as her mother tongue. She summarizes and arranges the shortcomings of Chinglish with her English thinking mode, and points out what she thinks when revising the original work, so as to guide readers to avoid Chinglish in imperceptible.
Chinese and English are two very different language systems. Chinese is a highly parataxis language, while English is constructed by its dominant grammatical means. If we construct sentences according to the way of thinking in Chinese and express them in English language, we will obviously not speak authentic sentences, but the problem is that in most cases we do not realize that we are talking in English and thinking in Chinese. The Translator's Guide to Chinglish reflects this problem. Through reading this book, we should draw on good learning methods, learn to use English thinking to learn English, get rid of the bad influence of Chinglish.
English authorities agree that good English language drivers always speak succinctly. That is, when conveying sentences with the same meaning, use as few words as possible in order to achieve the purpose of refinement. This means that if some words do not have any effect on ideographic meaning, it is necessary to decisively delete it.
