美国梦?了不起!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife, letting alone Gatsby who had a lover five years ago. But what is unfortunate is that the one who he loved deeply had already married a man who seemed to be not so good. Such the complex relationships resulted in an ending that seemed to be much more terrible. And the story relater who we called Nick abandoned his great dream which he stuck to for a long time, just after he understood New York that may be attached to much with something awful thoroughly.I argue that there’s a thread that linked the most part of the story actually——“American Dream”. It was expected to be full of vigor when it is concerning whether Nick who was prone to be a man who was triumphant and famous or Gatsby who tried his best to get the level where he would not be looked down and he would catch the heart of the woman who he buried in his heart for five years. But why did such vital dreams endanger the ending that was in a completely awful mess? In 1920s when the capitalism broadened tremendously, money seemed to be the universal thing that can be on behalf of everything: power, status, love... Everything could be attributed to money which was full of magic power. Virtually, when money was on behalf of all the matter in every detail lives, the "American dream" which originally contained ingredients that were flooded with passion had been nothing. When folks always went after money what they argued it could measure everything, the so-called dreams were uniformly aligning with wealth. And at this point, the accurate humanity nature such as love, friendship, trust, turned to be nothing but the slave of money. Subtle relationships between individuals were no longer as real as what they used to be. In these relationships, the American dream must be shattered. When he saw via all of these, Nick gave up his American dream which he thought was ridiculous. After reading the novel, I couldn't help thinking what that seems to be apparent: why is Gatsby great? As it’s foreknown to all that he sold fake wine by hook and crook so that he could get wealth. What he did to disguise himself made the public felt that he was a hypocritical man. But what was all he had done for? I assert it was the love. It was his inner belief that he could shift the past and Daisy would be with him. And on condition that he could perfectly convert his impoverished background, he could switch five years ago when he missed the love which he did not cherish well. In such a materialistic society, to insist on the original for five years, I hold the view that it can be called a "great".
