Gatsby is the hero of this book. His life can be summed up in two words: tragedy. The reason can be explained from earlier time. When he was young, he fell in love with Daisy, a wealthy girl in his family. He thought that his identity and status did not match her. Gatsby immediately set his goal of becoming a prominent person.

Soon after, Gatsby succeeded, and when he saw Daisy again, she was married, and Gatsby's heart was hit again. To get Daisy back to him, Gatsby built a luxury villa across from her house to deal with Daisy's powerful husband, and Daisy noticed him. It's surprising that Daisy regards Gatsby as a marriage stimulus when she sees him again. Once, Daisy accidentally drove her car and killed her husband's mistress. Gatsby took the responsibility on her own initiative, while Daisy's husband Tom provoked her mistress's husband to shoot and kill Gatsby. But Gatsby didn't realize that Daisy had decided to treat his sincere feelings as excitement. How ironic! Gatsby's body lay in the castle, with the exception of his father and friend Karawibe and others. The castle was as dead as dead leaves buried in the earth. Everything in the past was like a mirage.

The camera turned to Daisy, who was on holiday with Tom in Europe, enjoying their "perfect life". I suddenly felt that Gatsby's love was just a perfect fantasy. Gatsby's truth reflects Daisy's fake. No matter how much Gatsby loves Daisy, he can't walk into Daisy's empty heart.

Gatsby did not dare to tell herself that Daisy had changed. Her tears were full of money besides love. Gatsby had already felt this, but he loved Daisy so much that he deceived himself: she had not changed. He waited for Daisy and him to go far away from his desire, but the end was impossible. It is admirable and amazing that such a man as Gatsby could face his lover with Platonic feelings in an era when people crazily pursued money and status and abandoned pure feelings.

Daisy has already had her own love and love for material reasons. Daisy's husband, Tom, acted rudely and did all sorts of things to apologize for Daisy, but Daisy never left him, which is the most powerful proof that she has changed. How did a man who was lost in the dark and didn't want to go out at all cherish Gatsby's light? Her addiction to material buried Gatsby's miserable life. Gatsby's waiting Daisy should be the perfect image he imagined, not the real one.

After reading the book, we seem to see that in that indifferent era, people can not escape its whirlpool and get involved in it. When everything returns to calm, no one seems to remember whether it really happened.
