读后感之了不起的盖茨比
周必涛
"The great gatsby" is a classic work of American writer Fitzgerald. Most readers have long been familiar with the content of this novel, especially after leonardo dicaprio's re-interpretation in 2013. More people know this literary masterpiece and get to know gatsby, a classic literary character.
In the narration at the beginning of the novel, readers can feel the common "narration" and "review" techniques in traditional classical literature works. Using the perspective of Nick caroway, the author tells the reader that he wants to tell the story of gatsby. In the story, Nick is not only the narrator and commentator, but also the witness of the event.
In Nick's narration, gatsby goes from a mysterious figure whose origin is unknown in the legend to a real appearance in front of the people, and then proves his glorious history of having served in the army (and being an officer) and having received an education in Oxford. Step by step, he convinced Nick, who had doubted the source of his great wealth, that everything he said was true, and that everything he used to prove it was true. The fact that reality is elevated to unparalleled heights in fiction is one of the issues the author wants to explore.
Nick sees gatsby's luxurious banquet, and the unknown guests from all over the world, their enthusiasm and attachment to gatsby are actually vanity and unreality, because after gatsby died, there was no friend at the funeral.
When Nick's cousin Daisy saw him again five years later, she threw herself into a pile of luxury shirts she had never worn before and wailed because she had never seen such a beautiful shirt before. Gatsby paid for Daisy with his life, but the woman with "golden voice" ran away. The kindness of strangers is illusory, so is the love that once is engraved on one's heart. Gatsby squeezed himself into the society and finally got nothing.
And for Nick, his relationship with Jordan was an illusion. The woman who always stuck with him was soon engaged to another man. Between Tom and his mistress martell, also an episode in the extravagant life brought by money, martell is finally imprisoned by her husband, when he runs away, he is accidentally killed by Daisy, and her dream is also disillusioned. Gatsby's father, who had broken off the relationship in order not to drag his son to become a big man, only to be sent to the white hair, his hope in his heart also went up in smoke.
Friendship, love, affection, all the trust and affection between people in the United States east unreal land - west egg village, east egg village to get the ultimate performance. In that period of rapid economic progress, what people saw, heard and felt all became the material but unreal world.
With the disillusionment of the most real love in gatsby's heart, all the people in the story are stripped of the cloak of money. No matter how great they are, they are also submerged in the turbid waves of chasing money and disappeared. Perhaps that's why "the great gatsby" is a classic, because it's the bell that rings again and again to disillusion people.
The great gatsby is a work because its connotation will not be obliterated with the change of times. Fitzgerald is not writing about a fraught triangle, but a story of dreams. Life is precious, love is more valuable, if it is a dream, both can be thrown. Only dream, may not be able to achieve. As the novel ends, so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
