Through the ruin of Gatsby's pursuit of love dreams, the novel shows the theme of the bursting of the "American Dream" of the younger generation. Gatsby is a young man chasing the American dream. The early American dream means that a hard life can be achieved through hard work, that is, people must prosper through their diligence, courage, creativity and determination. Rather than relying on the assistance of specific social classes and others, the American dream was quietly changing after the end of World War I, and the driving force behind it became a thirst for wealth.
