I have just finished reading The Great Gatsby and write down my reading feeling. To be honest, I really don't understand the meaning of it very well. Perhaps I don't know enough about "American Dream" and "Jazz Age".
However, I still felt the infinite sadness revealed in the novel. The opening was full of money and excitement, and the hilarious party scene was in sharp contrast to Gatsby's funeral. Even Daisy, the only important person in Gatsby's heart, did not send a telegram to send a flower. How sad!
I can only write some miniature of Gatsby I saw and the world I saw. Gatsby is a fool who is loyal to love. He was originally a self-disciplined person, but in order to get Daisy, he did not hesitate to walk outside the rules and laws to make himself rich. It seems that Daisy can choose him!
Tom's arrogance and even the people who attended the party were still full of insults to Gatsby. Daisy chose a rich and powerful man as her marriage partner among many suitors (even if she did not love him so much). The shock and estrangement after hearing Gatsby's money route were the choices of those resentful elites for that era-money and power.
What a disappointment at the end of the story. He was mistakenly shot and killed in his courtyard. No one sent him, not even Daisy. In the end, wealth and love were all empty dreams. What a disappointment!
