In the chapter 1, Nick simply introduced his family and told us a little story about the couples——Tom and Daisy. they have a 2-year-old daughter, though they are rich and maybe successful, they aren't happy. Tom is tempered and may has a inamorata outside, for which Daisy loses her passion for life.
