the Chinese spirit 决赛作品
This is my first time to read English book on humanities and social sciences.I benefited a lot from Mr.Gu’s book.He compared Chinese with the American,the Germans and the French.He also pointed out that Chinese people possess four virtues at the same time: profound, broad, simple and spiritual.But from the point of the book,some of them are in line with the current society and others are relevant only to Gu’s time.Here are some of my opinions.
On the one hand,the Chinese spirit is the spirit of eternal youth,the immortal national spirit.The immortality is the perfect union of mind and heart.That is suitable for today’s society.The Chinese are unique and the Chinese people are gentle.Because thousands of years of civilization have swept away the savagery of the Chinese people.It is because of the this meekness that the Chinese live an complete spiritual life.Almost every Chinese with conscience has many good qualities in his heart,such as kindness and filial piety.
Besides,the Chinese language is a spiritual language.It is easier for uneducated people to learn.On the contrary ,it is difficult for educated people to learn,for learning hard with head and intelligence.I am very agree this idea.Then because Chinese people use their own heart to remember instead of head,so the Chinese have wonderful memories.The true Chinese people politeness is from their own heart and the spiritual level.It is a kind of absolute respect for others polite,and Japanese rigid general politeness is completely different.
The reason why Chinese nation is always young is that the Chinese civilization.Chinese people do not have religion.Instead,they have a complete set of philosophy,ethics and moral system,and a complex of human social civilization—Confucianism.The Confucianism can provide save sense and eternal feeling for people.It emphasizes a sense of honor,that is the doctrine of a gentleman,among which the righteousness.It is also an important basis for maintaining social stability.That is why the modern society is often not sustainable.So the Confucius,who compiling the SPRING and AUTUMN ANNALS,maintained the stability of the family and country.The loyalty between husband and wife,people’s loyalty to the ruler,is encouraged by the Confucius.
According to this idea,we must learn to be a gentleman,subject to the law of life-conscience,namely ‘ren’,which enables most people to abide by the rules of moral behavior.The Chinese missionary is different from the religion missionary.They teaches people how to be a good person and inspires people inspiration and strong emotions with poems,rites and music.So Confucianism has a strong relationship with the Chinese spirit.
On the other hand,the Chinese people in the book is not very useful in today’s society.At that time,woman were at home from father,married from husband,died from their son,namely three conformities and four virtues.The women do not have their own ideas.In today’s society,women should not be a vassal of others but an independent and thoughtful person.
All in all,Mr.Gu has great cultural self-confidence.That’s what we should be learning now.We should not blindly worship the foreign things.At the same time,we can not be ignorant of loyalty.The construction of moral system is very important to citizens.We should look at the dross we ignoring and face up to the Chinese traditional culture.In the end,we must keep rational,correct overlooking and criticizing the Chinese and western culture.
