The Great Gatsby is a book required by the school to read in winter vacation.This book has a deep influence on me.
After reading this book, I was wondering what was so great about gatsby. He fell in love with a woman he shouldn't have, and he lost his life for this. His pursuit of material success, he is eager to get the respect of the upper class, more eager to get Daisy's love. In the end, gatsby was shot dead. None of the people who had flocked to gatsby's party came to see him. The only person who was waiting at the funeral was Nick, gatsby's only friend. Daisy still left with Tom, and gatsby was just a passer-by in Daisy's life, a man who had brought a little fantasy and flavor to her life. In fact, the greatness of gatsby lies in the efforts he makes in his life and the ideological consciousness he has to realize his dreams.
We should not be completely pessimistic about the society or feel hopeless about young people like gatsby. We should see the glory in them. Try to look on the bright side of human nature and hope for it at all times.
