The impressions
In this book, Mr Gu hung-ming originally pointed out: " The man who want to know the real Chinese people and Chinese civilization, must be a deep,simple and delicacy". He from a unique perspective, and compared with American, British, German, French, showed that only the Chinese people completely have those qualities. From this perspective, the author vividly demonstrated the fine qualities of Chinese people with sharp language. This unique opinion of the author had a far-reaching impact on the international community, which was also helpful to improve the self-identity of Chinese people at that time.
The author also mentioned the Chinese language in the book. In his opinion, the reason why foreigners think Chinese is difficult to learn is that they use the wisdom of the head when learning Chinese, while Chinese is a language of the heart, so it will be difficult for them to learn Chinese. He thought the real Chinese people is a childlike heart and adult brain.I agree with him. In the modern life, because of social progress, so the adult human face more and more fierce competition, and the really clever people are those who keep the adult mind at work,and keep a childlike heart in life.
When it comes to the spirit of Chinese people, there is no way to avoid Chinese civilization. The author and some foreign scholars believe that Chinese people have no European religion in a strict sense, but the traditional Chinese culture Confucianism can play a role in place of religion to some extent. The author believes that the true greatness of Confucianism is giving people the correct idea of the country and elevating this idea into a religion. Confucianism can not be called a religion, but a man of the gentleman. In my opinion , Confucianism also plays a role in educating people, and has a great influence in pedagogy now.
Of course, the author also supported some Chinese feudal products in this book, such as women binding their feet and men taking concubines. In my opinion, although at any time, we can not forget the excellent qualities and culture left by our ancestors, we can not be comprehensive about everything. To accept, we should selectively inherit and carry forward our traditional culture and spirit.
