Book Review for China-Ancient Culture, Mordern Society No.1

As the captain of our reading team, I chose this book for our group because I wanted to get to know the image of China in the forigners’ so that maybe I day I can help this whole world to comprehend the real China better----yes, I certainly respect Ruth Benedict and her masterpiece The Chrysanthemum and The Sword, which is probably why I’m kind of disappointed about this simple introduction of China.
From my perspective, when introducing a somewhat strange country, one should probably start with its culture instead of a geographic introduction. When you first arrive in a place, it is its people and their behavior or custom rather than its geographic features that impress you most. However, this book spends 10 percent of its content describing the irrelevant aspects of China, which, as far as I’m concerned, makes this book kind of dull.
