The topic is contemporary surgical treatment of facial paralysis. The objective is to impress upon you the psychosocial and functional impacts of a facial nerve paralysis. A basic understanding of facial nerve anatomy is important. So we're going to spend a little bit of time on that and talk about some basics of peripheral nerve injury and recovery, and particularly as it pertains to facial nerve facial nerve paralysis and recovery. And finally, we're going to spend some time to understand the challenges and approaches in rehabilitation of the facial nerve using surgical techniques.
