• 导读
  • Very interesting book about the sacrifices you have to make to become great at something. Interesting characters and brilliant insights. It wasn't always easy to root for the main character, but I enjoyed the story overall.

This is actually a very interesting book. It takes us through the character growth and determination of Mildred Gower(the main character) to be and become more just another beautiful girl. This book is set in the early 1900's, a time when there were very few careers open to women other than as servants and prostitutes.

After completing his education, Phillips worked as a newspaper reporter in Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving on to New York City where he was employed as a reporter for The Sun from 1890 to 1893, then columnist and editor with the New York World until 1902.
