This lecture will first start off with a little bit of historical perspective then talk a little bit about mechanisms of chronic pain How does it develop. Finally the lecturer will talk about one older technique and one newer technique deep brain stimulation and mortal cortical stimulation: how they work, what their indications are and what their outcomes are from surgery.
