"The Canterville Ghost" is a popular short story by Oscar Wilde, widely adapted for the screen and stage. It was the first of Wilde's stories to be published, appearing in the magazine The Court and Society Review in February 1887. It was later included in a collection of short stories entitled Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories in 1891.

奥斯卡·王尔德（Oscar Wilde，1854~1900），19世纪出生在英国（准确来讲是爱尔兰，但是当时由英国统治。）最伟大的作家与艺术家之一，以其剧作、诗歌、童话和小说闻名。唯美主义代表人物，19世纪80年代美学运动的主力和90年代颓废派运动的先驱。

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900) was an Irish author, playwright and poet. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. Today he is remembered for his epigrams, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays, as well as the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death.
