My Late Senatorial Secretaryship is a short essay written by Mark Twain. It was written in about 1867 and tells the story of Mark Twain working for a senator who does not find his work all that satisfactory which is hardly surprised because while he does follow the letter of the man's orders the spirit is not exactly what the man meant, in fact it could hardly be worse if he had tried.Although this is mostly a joke it does put into the light the way that politicians speak and act in a way that is interesting and unique because it points out all the things that the would never do.
